Election Day is Tuesday, November 4. Polls in Portland will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. After voting for Barack Obama, Tom Allen and Chellie Pingree there are many other important votes to be cast. We hope the information below is helpful.

District/Polling Place Lookup

If you are not sure enter your address at www.portlandmaine.gov/voter/distlook.asp

This will return your Municipal District and Precinct, your Polling Place, and your State House and Senate districts.


In-Person Absentee Voting

Any Portland resident can vote absentee at the City Clerks office on the 2nd floor of City Hall. The office is open Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The office will also be open on the Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9:00 to noon.

A brilliant way to guarantee your voice is heard!

IMPORTANT: The last day for in-person absentee voting is Saturday, November 1st.


Absentee Ballots

Be sure not to leave this till too late!!!

You can request an Absentee Ballot with this form: www.portlandmaine.gov/voter/absentee.pdf or call them at 874-8610. Fill it out, mail (Portland City Clerk, 389 Congress St., Room 203, Portland 04101) it back to them and they will then mail you the ballot. The absentee ballot must be back at the City Clerk's office by 8 p.m., November 4th (election day).

Volunteering On Election Day

Please consider taking Election Day off from work so you can help our friends at the Maine Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign. They are organizing Portland’s GOTV (Get Out The Vote) effort on Election Day. If you can be a part of the action please visit their offices soon, 305 Commercial St, so they can figure out where you would fit best, whether you might need training, etc..
